In this study, an effective and low-cost one-step synthesis procedure of the metal-carbon nanocomposite based on Fe Co bimetallic nanoparticles and IR treated chitosan as a catalyst for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis was demonstrated. It was revealed that chitosan can act as a metal reducing agent and stabilizing matrix. The chemical transformations in the polymer, the structural evolution of the Fe Co alloy nanoparticles and their phase composition depended on synthesis temperature were studied. The catalytic results showed that Fe Co bimetallic nanoparticles supported on chitosan-based carbon were highly active in the CO conversion to hydrocarbons and selective towards gasoline and olefins fractions.
