Synthesis and luminescent properties of zinc(II) complexes with iodo- and bromosubstituted 2,2′-dipyrrines

Abstract
Synthesis, spectral-luminescence properties of the zinc(II)–dipyrrinates containing one or two I- and Br-atoms at the pyrrole rings are described. We have studied the changes of the spectral-luminescent properties of zinc(II) complexes with iodo- and bromosubstituted 2,2′-dipyrrines depending on the characteristics of their molecular structure and properties of the medium. The results obtained provide the potential use of halogenated zinc(II)–dipyrrinates in developing fluorescent dyes for engineering and medical applications.
