Abstract
Abstract 3-Aroyl-1 H -pyrrolo[2,1- c ][1,4]benzoxazine-1,2,4-triones reacted with oxindole to give in good yields products of addition of the C 3 atom of the latter to the C 3a atom of the former, 3-aroyl-2-hydroxy-3a(2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1 H -indol-3-yl)-1 H -pyrrolo[2,1- c ][1,4]benzoxazine-1,4(3a H )-diones, that are promising as potential biologically active compounds. The reactions occur under mild conditions in the absence of catalysts or other additives, and isolation of the products requires no chromatographic separation.
