Abstract
This paper reports the experimental vibrational spectra of two conformers of peroxyformic acid in Kr and Xe matrices, with emphasis on the higher-energy E,E structure. The conformers are formed simultaneously in the reaction of trans-HCOOH with atomic oxygen. Most of the fundamental bands of the lower-energy Z,Z structure and the four most intense bands of the higher-energy E,E structure are assigned according to the ab initio calculations at the MP2//aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory.
