Abstract
Acetylene obtained from the hydrocarbon mixture in cracking plants is hydrogenated to form ethylene; however, losses of ethylene in further reactions is not economical. The reduction of these losses and improved catalyst performance are presented by the authors, who illustrate the modeling and simulation of selective hydrogenation of acetylene as convenient methods for analyzing, optimizing operating conditions or even designing processes.
