Abstract
A complete and unambiguous assignment of the 1H and 13C NMR spectra of (E)-erythromycin A oxime in acetone-d6 was accomplished by two-dimensional chemical shift correlation methods. The 1H NMR NOE data, in conjunction with molecular modeling techniques, were used to predict the predominant solution conformation of erythromycin A oxime in acetone-d6. This conformational analysis was used to explain the lack of facial selectivity observed in the reduction of the oxime.
