Abstract
An assorted set of sulfonyl arenes such as β‐naphthylamines, β‐naphthols, phenols and naphthalenes could be accessed in a divergent manner by base‐mediated annulation of sulfonyl enynals. The strategy is extended to the synthesis of heterocycles such as carbazole, quinoline and benzothiophene. Benzannulation is demonstrated on derivatives of natural steroids like estrone and cholesterol.
