Die Pyrolyse des Kafigdimeren 2 aus 2,3-Dimethylbenzochinon liefert neben dem Ausgangs-chinon auch 25% 2,5-Dimethylbenzochinon. Die Pyrolyse der Kafigdimeren 3 und 5 liefert jeweils nur das reine 2,5- bzw. 2,6-Dimethylbenzochinon. Die Struktur des Kafigdimeren 5 wird durch das Massenspektrum und Abbaureaktionen zu Tetramethylbenzochinon bewiesen.
Asteranes, VIII. Decomposition of the Cage Dimers from 2,3-, 2,5-, and 2,6-Dimethyl-p-benzoquinone
25% 2,5-dimethylbenzoquinone is obtained in addition to 2,3-dimethylbenzoquinone by pyrolysis of the cage dimer 2. Pyrolysis of the cages from 2,5- and 2,6-dimethylbenzoquinone 3 and 5 yields only the starting quinones. The structure 5 of the cage dimer from 2,6-dimethylbenzoquinone is established by mass spectroscopy and degradation to tetramethylbenzoquinone.
