Maximum Compaction of Ionic Organic Explosives: Bis(hydroxylammonium) 5,5′-Dinitromethyl-3,3′-bis(1,2,4-oxadiazolate) and its Derivatives

Abstract
Simple and dense is an appropriate description for energetic materials based on 5,5′-dinitro-methyl-3,3′-bis(1,2,4-oxadiazolyl). In particular, the bis(hydroxylammonium) salt shows an outstanding high calculated density (2.00 g cc−1 at 92 K), which is the basic requirement for the design of new high explosives (see figure).
