Abstract
Poor solubility of Hantzsch ester is used as indicator in the reduction of methylidene malononitrile. The Knoevenagel reaction is integrated to develop a reductive alkylation of malononitrile with aryl and aliphatic aldehyde as the carbonyl substrate.
