Abstract
A precious metal free catalyst consisting of copper carbide and copper particles, which were wrapped in a carbon layer, was prepared by treating cupric subcarbonate with acetylene followed by hydrogen reduction and displayed an outstanding performance (high active, selective, and stable) in selective hydrogenation of acetylene in excess ethylene at low temperatures.
