Abstract
Non-conservative antiphase boundaries in the intermetallic alloy Ni3Mo have been studied by electron microscopy. It is shown that if a small excess of molybdenum is present along the boundary, a relaxation of the lattice occurs along the interface. This gives rise to a small supplementary displacement vector ϵ, the total displacement vector being R ϵ. The direction and the sense of ϵ have been determined from diffraction experiments; the supplementary displacement is equivalent to a small expansion of the boundary regions. An analysis of the structural model confirms the results.
