General Chemistry
Abstract
N-Vinylbenzamides (enamides) are readily synthesized by the N-monovinylation of primary aromatic amides using calcium carbide. The use of inexpensive, easy-to-handle solid alkyne source, high chemoselectivity, good functional group tolerance, transition metal-free condition, and simple work-up procedure are the salient features of this protocol.
