Abstract
The approach of law to science and technology’s conflicts is not an easy task. Its answers to the problem have often been to assume the emerging social relations, to regulate normatively or to recognize judicially those relations as well as to introduce new axiological principlesPrinciples through their own normativeNormative (i.e., legalLegal or judicial, in terms of the structure of the various legal systemsLegal systems ). This phenomenon has been more exceptional and usually comes from a bioethical reflection. Much has been written about the concept of bioethicsBioethics and its incardination within applied ethicsEthics . However, very little progress has been made in shaping biolawBiolaw as a legalLegal discipline. At most, it has been assumed as a mere terminological update of the classic term “medical lawLaw ” or “health lawLaw”, even without distinguishing well both concepts from each other. However, biolawBiolaw is more than that, and so it must be understood. It does not correspond solely and exclusively to the set of normsNorms dealing with issues related to the life sciencesLife sciences , but it goes further. Thus, this chapter is a proposal for the foundation of biolawBiolaw as an autonomous juridicalJuridical discipline.
