Abstract
A laboratory method is presented for the preparation of ferrous bromide by heating ferric bromide or its crystal hydrate in toluene or xylene at reflux for 3–4 h. The yield is quantitative. The FeBr2 or57FeBr2 sample thereby obtained may be used in the synthesis of iron porphyrin complexes.
