Abstract
The size and shape of ammonium decanoate and ammonium dodecanoate micelles as functions of micellar concentration have been studied using the techniques of small-angle neutron scattering and time-averaged light scattering. The results indicate that the micellar mass of ammonium dodecanoate increases with surfactant concentration. This behaviour can be attributed to the formation of rod-like micelles. A comparison is made with the homologous surface active agent, ammonium decanoate.
