Abstract
4-Aryl-N-(4-acetylphenyl)-2-hydroxy-4-oxobut-2-enamides were obtained by the reaction of methyl esters of acylpyruvic acids with 4-aminoacetophenone in glacial HOAc in the presence of anhydrous NaOAc. The structures of the compounds were determined by PMR, 13C NMR, and IR spectroscopy. Pronounced analgesic activity was found for the synthesized compounds. All studied compounds were practically non-toxic.
