Abstract
During the solidification process of 7050 aluminum alloy, hot tearing is prone to occur, which can severely affect the mechanical properties, appearance quality, service life, and reliability of the product. Therefore, inhibiting the occurrence of hot tearing is extremely important in industrial production. This paper investigates the effect of pulsed magnetic field treatment on the microstructure and solidification shrinkage force of 7050 aluminum alloy, revealing the mechanism by which pulsed magnetic fields inhibit hot tearing in castings. The research shows that the application of pulsed magnetic fields significantly reduces the grain size of the casting, reduces the solidification shrinkage force, and inhibits the occurrence of hot tearing. When the pulsed magnetic field parameters are 40 A, 20 Hz and 40 A, 10 Hz, the grain refinement rates are approximately 34.9% and 30.1%, respectively. However, the magnetic field parameters of 40 A and 20 Hz have the most significant effect in suppressing the formation of hot tearing in the casting. The research results provide a new direction for process improvement in reducing hot tearing formation in aluminum alloys in industry.
