The chapter is dedicated to the modern trends in surface modification by iodonium saltsIodonium salts as an alternative to the common diazonium chemistry. The iodonium saltsIodonium salts with higher reduction potentialReduction potential commonly are not prone to the spontaneous reaction with surfaces that provide unique opportunities for the precise control of the grafting process. This chapter will include general information about the structure, reactivity, and preparation of iodonium saltsIodonium salts, as well as a full overview of surface functionalization using iodonium saltsIodonium salts.
