Abstract
Die orbitale Exenteration ist eine Notmaßnahme, die nicht oft ausgeführt werden muß. Bei einem derartigen Eingriff kostet es den Augenarzt immer wieder eine Überwindung, da es sich um einen ziemhch großen, destruktiven Eingriff handelt, der sich so sehr von den metikulösen Operationen unterscheidet, die der operativen Augenheilkunde eigen sind. Beüiahe immer betrifft es maligne, lebensbedrohhche Prozesse. Die Operation ist dermaßen mutiherend, daß eine sorgfältige psychische Vorbereitung des Patienten von großer Bedeutung ist. Danach wird es vorkommen, daß eine exenteratio orbitae als einzig rettende Möghchkeit gerne akzeptiert wird.
