Abstract
Obsidian is a volcanic rock which, when broken, has a very sharp edge. It is defined in dictionaries as follows: “obsidian (ob-sid′-i-an) A black or dark-colored volcanic glass, usually of rhyolite composition, characterized by conchoidal fracture. It has been used for making arrowheads, jewelry, and art objects”.
