The reactions of quinoline-2(6,8)-carbaldehydes with arenes by the action of strong Brønsted (H 2 SO 4 , CF 3 SO 3 H) or Lewis (AlCl 3 , AlBr 3 ) acids led to the formation of substituted diarylmethylquinolines in high yields.
