Abstract
This study investigated the influence of oxygen pressure to photoelectrochemical oxidation of the direct black 22 dye using TiO2 nanotube array grown on Ti metal plate as a working electrode, which was fabricated using electrochemical anodization process. The characterization of Titanium nanotube array was carried using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The photoelectrochemical oxidation of direct black dye under increasing pressure from 0.1 to 0.7 MPa was studied; it is found that the increase in oxygen pressure leads to increase in the reaction rate indicating that this may be associated with the electrochemical reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide and other oxygen-containing species. It is further observed that the titanium nanotube array has low electrocatalytic activity.Graphical Abstract
