Abstract
Curcumin, a natural biphenolicdiaryl heptanoid, is known to have a wide range of therapeutic dental applications due to its variety of biological and pharmacological potentials. However, some drawbacks such as low water solubility, poor bioavailability, and rapid metabolism limit its therapeutic applications. Hence, the use of nanotechnology within the dental field can help to overcome limitations by developing efficient delivery system. This review presents the different curcumin nano-formulation for dental applications as well as their therapeutic effects. The safety concern and future research directions needed to propose nanocurcumin as a promising natural candidate for treatment of dental disease and improving regeneration are summarized.
