Abstract
Sar9,Met(O2)11-Substance P a potent and selective agonist at the neurokinin-1 receptor. It is a synthetic peptide analog of substance P with amino acid substitutions at the 9 and 11 positions that confer greater selectivity for the NK-1 receptor than that possessed by native substance P but with similar full agonist properties at the NK-1 receptor. It is used solely as a research tool for characterizing the pharmacological and physiological consequences of selective neurokinin-1 (NK-1) tachykinin receptor activation.
