Because of their valuable biological effects and applications in preparative organic chemistry, the syntheses and transformations of 1,3-oxazine derivatives and their carbo- or heterocycle-fused analogues have been studied thoroughly in recent years. In addition to the latest developments in synthetic methods and reactions, a large number of selective transformations, asymmetric processes, multicomponent and environmentally benign procedures are discussed. Besides the chemical characterization of this group of heterocycles, the most important biologically active 1,3-oxazine derivatives are also summarized briefly.
