Abstract
Cellular senescence is not only a key component of the natural aging process driven by multiple factors but is also closely linked to the development of age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Investigating the application of small-molecule fluorescent probes for non-invasive monitoring and treatment of senescence-related diseases holds significant potential. Accurate detection of senescence biomarkers using these probes offers promising opportunities for early diagnosis. Thoughtful design of these probes with therapeutic capabilities may provide new strategies for disease intervention, potentially slowing the senescence process and addressing the challenges posed by a senescence population. In this review, we highlight recent advancements in the use of small-molecule fluorescent probes for detecting senescence biomarkers and exploring therapeutic strategies.
