This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, catalytic activity, and antioxidant properties of a novel copper complex, bis(acetato)(3,3′-diamino-N-methyl-dipropylamine)copper(II) monohydrate [Cu(Dampa)(CH₃COO)₂]·H₂O. The structure of the complex was determined using X-ray crystallography, complemented by spectroscopic analyses such as IR and UV–Visible spectroscopy.The catecholase activity evaluation revealed that [Cu(Dampa)(CH₃COO)₂]·H₂O exhibits significantly higher catalytic efficiency compared to in situ generated Cu(II) complexes, emphasizing its potential as an effective catalyst for catechol oxidation. A kinetic study based on the Michaelis-Menten model confirmed these findings, highlighting the catalytic performance of the complex, making it suitable for applications such as decontamination and rapid catalytic processes.Additionally, the antioxidant activity assessment demonstrated that [Cu(Dampa)(CH₃COO)₂]·H₂O surpasses the performance of ascorbic acid and the uncomplexed ligand. These properties make this complex a highly promising candidate for applications requiring superior antioxidant and catalytic functionalities.
