Recent developments and advanced applications of promising functional nanocomposites for green buildings: A review

Abstract
Green buildings have received more attention due to their efficient utilization of resources and environmental protection. The functional nanocomposites have widely application in green buildings, including energy conservation and environmentally friendly, and improving building performance. Herein, we reviewed the recent development of functional nanocomposites for green buildings from three sections and nine aspects. We reviewed energy saving building materials, such as thermal insulation nanocomposites, thermal insulation nanocomposite coating, and phase change nanocomposites. Environmentally friendly building materials are introduced based on photocatalytic nanocomposites, antibacterial nanocomposites, and self-repairing nanocomposites. In addition, intelligent building materials including nanosensor, building energy management systems, and smart nanoglass are contained. Moreover, challenges and prospects of functional nanocomposites for green buildings are suggested. It expects that this review article favors the applications of functional nanocomposites for green buildings in the near future.
