Challenges and opportunities of ERP implementation in Indian SMEs: A case study of Jharkhand

The Small and medium sector is India's economic backbone, and it is very crucial in protecting the country from any global economic crisis. Small and medium-sized companies in India are critical to the country's economic development. That’s why the implementation of ERP is very crucial for SMEs to sustain themselves in this global business world.ERP is a commercial package that allows an organisation's transaction-oriented data and business processes to be integrated throughout the enterprise.SMEs are turning to ERP deployment to stay competitive in today's global economic environment. ERP is becoming popular in the Indian SME sector. Many firms, even after introducing modern business systems like ERP, have been unable to reap the benefits of integration, according to the experts and available literature. The required business structural change in order to adopt the ERP system acts as a challenge for SME.The issues that would lead to a beneficial outcome for the adoption of ERP systems in the context of the Indian SME sector must be identified. This article aims to identify the challenges in the area of ERP implementation and prioritise the elements that influence ERP system deployment in a business organisation, with a focus on Indian small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The research highlights the challenges faced by Jharkhand’s SMEs in implementing the ERP system.
