Abstract
2H-Azirines, a unique class of cyclic imines, have gained significant attention in the field of organic chemistry due to their remarkable reactivity and versatility in synthetic applications. These strained three-membered rings act as valuable synthons for constructing diverse nitrogen-containing heterocyclic frameworks, playing a pivotal role in drug discovery and materials science. 2H-Azirines readily undergo a wide range of transformations, including nucleophilic additions, cycloaddition reactions, and ring-opening processes, which enable the formation of complex molecular architectures. This review presents a comprehensive overview of the various synthetic pathways involving 2H-azirines, emphasizing their applications in the development of complex heterocycles and bioactive compounds. By highlighting advancements, this review underscores the increasing significance of 2H-azirines as crucial intermediates in modern synthetic chemistry and their potential to drive innovation in drug design and related fields.
