Abstract
Heavily cold-drawn in situ Cu–Nb and Cu–Nb–Zr composites have been studied by transmission electron microscopy and mechanical testing. Ultimate tensile strength and microhardness decrease with introduction of intermediate annealing and increase with Zr doping. Besides, Zr results in formation of dispersed and coarse ZrO 2 particles, and changes the character of fracture from ductile to the brittle one.
