Abstract
The ethylene complex Cp2Zr(C2H4)(PMe3) (1) reacts readily with a variety of substrates: alcohols ROH (R Me, Et, Ph) give the alkoxy ethyl complexes Cp2Zr(Et)(OR), the mercaptan tBuSH gives the thiolate ethyl complex Cp2Zr(Et)(StBu), water gives the dinuclear oxo-bridged complex [Cp2Zr(Et)]2μ-O, and the acids HX (X Cl, H(O)CO, and the CH3(O)CO, CF3(O)CO) give the complexes Cp2Zr(Et)X and Cp2ZrX2. The reaction of Cp2Zr(Et)[OC(O)H] with water gives the dinuclear Cp2Zr[OC(O)H]2μ-O. Cp2Zr(Et)(StBu) reacts with HX (X H(O)CO, CH3(O)CO) and ROH to yield the carboxylate ethyl complexes Cp2Zr(Et)X and the alkoxy ethyl complexes Cp2Zr(Et)(OR).
