The result of neutron diffraction studies of the crystal structure of rare-earth and yttrium anhydrous deuterated formates with general formula Me(DCOO) 3 (where Me stands for Y, La, Ce, Tb and Tm) are presented. All these formates have been shown to be isostructural. The space group is R3m . The oxygen coordination polyhedron of Me is a tricapped trigonal prism with the symmetry 3 m . The symmetry of DCOO-group, m , is connected both with the symmetry of its Me environment and the chemical properties of MeO bond. There is also a CD … O-type hydrogen bond in the structure.
