Abstract
Although the adaptive processes of animals are under the control of the central nervous system there is clear evidence of the involvement also of hormones produced by the endocrine glands. It further appears that the effect may not depend on the whole hormone molecule but on only a part of it, known as a neuropeptide. Recent research suggests that neuropeptides may have a useful role to play in the treatment of schizophrenia.
