Abstract
Beside the influence of power input, temperature, flow rates, and retention time, the yield of acetylene by direct conversion of coal in a plasma arc is essentially determined by chemical coal quality. It is shown which coal properties are significant for the product distribution acetylene, char and side products, i.e. volatile matter-content, calorific value and caking capacity of the feed coal.
