Abstract
Continuous SiC-fiber-reinforced/SiC matrix composites have non-substitutable applications as thermal components in the aerospace and atomic energy industries due to their excellent mechanical, thermal and radiation properties. However, these relatively new composites are still at the development stage and there are several obstacles that need to be resolved. Improving oxidant resistance and reducing fabrication cost are two main issues. This chapter presents and reviews novel interphase types, new process routes, low-cost and efficient matrix processes, nano-reinforcement and dielectric properties and microwave-absorbing applications.
