Mineral inspired electrode materials for metal-ion batteries

Abstract
The rapid development of the rechargeable batteries industry requires the exploration of new materials because their properties are the most important factor limiting progress in this field. Among various compounds investigated as electrode materials, structural analogues of minerals occupy a prominent place. This review focuses on a detailed analysis of mineral-like electrode materials in terms of their crystal structure, ionic diffusivity, and associated electrochemical properties; drawbacks and benefits of each family of electrode materials are discussed.
