Abstract
Synthesis, crystal structure, enantiomeric resolution, and CD spectroscopy of the first colchicine derivative with an eight-membered B-ring lactam obtained via a Beckmann reaction, is described and only one of the stable atropisomeric enantiomers arrests microtubule assembly. Graphic
