Abstract
In the present work, the Pd-Bi nanoparticles combined with catalytically active support based on the Zr-UiO-66 metal-organic framework are prepared and investigated as bifunctional catalysts in the reaction of the base-free cascade glycerol conversion to lactic acid. The obtained materials are characterized by XRD, TEM, TGA, low-temperature N2 adsorption, XRF, and NH3-TPD. The unique structure and tunability of hybrid materials allow obtaining the lactic acid with a 58% selectivity at a 19% glycerol conversion without the addition of any base. The best hybrid catalysts preserve their structure after catalytic runs and can be recycled at least 4 times without leaching of the active component.
