Catalytic burner with structured Pt/θ-Al2O3/FeCrAl catalyst was developed and tested for the deep oxidation of liquified petroleum gas (LPG). The use of a FeCrAlloy wire mesh with a θ-Al2O3 protective coating as a support for Pt enabled production of a catalyst with the ability of high rates of heat removal, that is similar in performance to the most efficient powder catalysts. The use of Pt (0.03 wt%)/θ-Al2O3/FeCrAl catalyst in the deep oxidation of LPG allows achieving minimal CO and hydrocarbon and zero NOx emissions. During the life tests, stable operation of the catalyst was observed for 120 h.
