Abstract
Because of their significant capacity to provide greatly better safeguard and energy density, all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) have acquired great interest. However, the only batteries that can currently power electrochemical devices with greater power and energy densities are those with organic liquid electrolytes. To increase the competence of solid-state batteries, superionic solid electrolytes that are (electro)chemically stable are urgently needed. This review examines the benefits of cation-doped Li-argyrodites Li6PS5X (X = Cl, Br, I) and how cation coping affects the relationship between structure-conductivity and stability. First, the strengths and weaknesses of Li-argyrodites are highlighted and compared with other solid electrolytes. Second, the progress and key issues regarding the ionic conductivity, interfacial, and air stability of the cation-doped Li-argyrodites are discussed and compared with the pristine. Finally, possible solutions, and our viewpoints on enhancing solid state electrolytes (SSEs) performance are presented.
