Abstract
The ongoing research on the development of promising electrode materials for supercapacitors seeks to further enhance their energy density values and overall performance, thus enabling them to be utilised in a variety of electronic applications. Tungsten disulfide (WS2) is a promising candidate to be explored as an electrode material in supercapacitors. This article is an initiative to perform a review focusing on the recent advancements in the development of WS2 and its nanostructured composites for supercapacitor applications. The review provides an overview of the synthesis methods used to create WS2 nanostructures, their structural, morphological, and electrochemical properties, and their potential future storage capabilities. Additionally, the article discusses the impact of substrate and electrolyte on the electrochemical performance of WS2-based nanostructures while employed in the supercapacitor application.
