Abstract
Conventional flammable liquid electrolytes are not suitable for next generation lithium metal batteries with high energy density, stable performance, and excellent safety. Although solid polymer electrolytes have been studied for decades, it is still quite challenging for them to be pushed forward for practical application. Developing polymer/inorganic hybrid electrolytes that take advantage of both polymers and inorganic materials is considered to be an important route to make breakthrough. Ionic liquids are green materials in electrochemical process with unique advantages. This review summarizes recent research advances in developing ionic liquid containing, polymer/inorganic hybrid electrolytes, including their preparation routes, ion conduction, electrochemical properties, and mechanical and thermal properties.
