1,2- Alternate p-tert -butylthiacalix[4]arene bearing at the lower rim 1,2-positioned acetamide fragments reacts with ethyl bromoacetate to give mono-O-alkylation product when Na 2 CO 3 is used as a base and O,O′,N,N′-tetraalkylation one in the case of K 2 CO 3 .
