Advantages of ethane oxidative dehydrogenation on the MoVNbTeO catalyst under elevated pressure

Abstract
The oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane in the supercritical state into ethylene on MoVNbTeOx oxide catalysts at the total pressure of an O2-containing mixture of 100 atm was carried out. The high reaction pressure allowed us to decrease the temperature from 360 °C at 1 atm to 280 °C at 100 atm along with the increased productivity of C2H4 from 205 to 290    g C 2 H 4 h − 1 k g cat − 1 , respectively. Moreover, the higher pressure also prevents the destruction of M1 phase of the catalyst via the reduction of Te.
