Abstract
Here, we report copolymerization of ethylene or propylene with norbornenes functionalized with polar groups, using palladium catalysts, Pd/IzQO, Pd/BPMO, or Pd/PS. In this study, the structural analyses for copolymers of ethylene with methyl 5-norbornene-2-carboxylate (E/MeNBE), tert-butyl 5-norbornene-2-carboxylate (E/tBuNBE), or 5-norbornene-2-carboxylic acid (E/NBA) were conducted. Also, this work serves as the first example of coordination–insertion copolymerization of propylene with disubstituted polar olefins. In addition, the thermal properties of the obtained copolymers were evaluated by the DSC analyses.
