Abstract
The crystal form of a two-dimensional B4S monolayer, whose structure is a flat sheet with planar tetracoordinated sulfur atoms and polyene boron chain substructures, was studied using the DFT calculations. The calculations predict the structural and dynamic stability of B4S, which is a material with semimetallic characteristics. The B4S monolayer is characterized by the pronounced in-plane anisotropy of mechanical properties with the high maximal value of the Poisson ratio for the strain directed along the boron chains. The assessment of thermal stability by the molecular dynamic's method indicates sufficient stability of the predicted nonclassical system, which makes it possible to observe B4S in experiments conducted at the temperature up to 200 K.
