The reaction of TiCl 4 with C 6 Me 6 in CH 2 Cl 2 or 1,2-C 6 H 4 Cl 2 led to a do-arene complex [(η 6 -C 6 Me 6 )TiCl 3 ] + °STi 2 Cl 9 ]-(2), which was structurally characterized by an X-ray analysis. The structure consists of a three-leg piano-stool metallic fragment (TiCl 3 ) + η 6 binding the arene moiety. The 1 H NMR spectrum of the reaction solution indicated the presence of a charge transfer intermediate.
