Abstract
Benzyl alcohol is readily oxidized by O2 to benzaldehyde in the presence of catalytic amounts of the Pd561phen60(OAc)180 giant cluster. Unlike aliphatic aldehydes, benzaldehyde is resistant toward further transformations in this system.
